The insert block is a crossflow plate heat exchanger without its own casing. It is installed in air handling units, where it transfers heat from the exhaust air to the supply air.
Design
The channels of both air streams alternate layer by layer and cross at right angles. On each connection side every second channel is open, the others are closed. Corner profiles frame the plate pack.
Sizing
Plate spacing and material depend on volume flow, temperature and fouling. The plate spacing can be chosen differently for each air side. Send us your operating data and we will size the block accordingly.
Technology
| Type | AEC-100 |
|---|---|
| Flow arrangement | crossflow |
| Design | insert block without casing |
| Plate spacing | per air side, as per sizing |
| Temperature | depends on material and sealing |
| Leakage | low, depending on design |
| Material | Aluminium, coated aluminium, stainless steel, plastic |
Example illustration
Strengths
- Plate spacing selectable per air side
- Material matched to the medium
Limits
- Needs a unit casing that separates the two air paths
- Does not transfer moisture; an enthalpy block is available on request
