Crossflow plate heat exchanger, gas-tight welded

The gas-tight welded plate heat exchanger is intended for processes in which the gas streams must not mix or the temperatures are too high for seals.

Design

The stainless steel plates are fully welded to each other, with no sealing compounds. Each of the four connection sides carries a surrounding frame for the duct connection.

Applications

Typical applications are hot flue gases and process air, for example heat recovery downstream of thermal processes. We size material and plate spacing to your operating data.

Technology

Type AEC-300
Flow arrangement crossflow
Material stainless steel, grade matched to the medium
Leakage none, gas-tight
Temperature high temperature, depending on the steel
Plate spacing as per sizing

Example illustration

Strengths

  • No leakage between the gas streams
  • Connection frames for welding or flanging

Limits

  • Stainless steel only, heavier than an aluminium block
  • Welded and therefore not dismantlable for cleaning

Frequently asked questions

Why welded instead of sealed?

Seals limit temperature and tightness. A fully welded block does without them and keeps the gas streams permanently separated.

How is the heat exchanger connected?

Each connection side has a surrounding frame, which is welded to the duct or flanged on.
