Crossflow plate heat exchanger with flange frame

The crossflow plate heat exchanger with flange frame is intended for systems in which the plate pack does not sit inside a unit but directly between the ducts.

Design

The plate pack is enclosed in a surrounding frame. Each of the four connection sides has a flange face for the duct, so the frame separates the two air paths without an additional casing.

Applications

Typical uses are heat recovery in ventilation systems and process exhaust air, when the heat exchanger is fitted into existing ducts. Material and plate spacing are sized to your operating data.

Technology

Type AEC-400
Flow arrangement crossflow
Connection surrounding flange frame
Material four plate materials
Moving parts none
Plate spacing as per sizing

Example illustration

Strengths

  • Direct duct connection without a separate unit casing
  • Plate material selectable to suit the medium

Limits

  • Frame and flanges need space in the duct network
  • Without dampers there is no bypass for frost protection or free cooling

Frequently asked questions

When is the flange frame better than the installation block?

When no ventilation unit houses the plate pack. The frame itself separates the air paths and is flanged directly to the ducts.

Can the flange frame be combined with dampers?

Yes. Dampers for bypass, frost protection or free cooling are specified in the quote.
